The Scott County Sheriff's Department is a full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to protecting and serving the citizens of Scott County. Anthony Lay serves as sheriff, and Bobby Ellis serves as chief deputy.

Sheriff Lay was elected to office in 2006. The Sheriff's Department currently maintains offices behind the Scott County Courthouse. All department operations, and the housing of inmates, will move to the Scott County Justice Center on Scott High Drive in Huntsville upon completion of the new facility in late summer 2008.
