In addition to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement is provided in the towns of Oneida and Winfield by municipal police departments.
The Chief of Police in Oneida is Daryl Laxton. The Chief of Police in Winfield is Steve Trammel.
Police departments in each municipality often provide and receive assistance from the Sheriff’s Department with criminal investigations and emergency response.
Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers patrol state roads in Scott County, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency patrols state-owned wildlife management areas inside the county and National Park Service rangers provide law enforcement inside the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area.
