Scott County Ambulance Service EMTs assist accident victims as part of a training exercise.

Emergency calls are dispatched by Scott County’s E-911 communications system and ambulance service is provided by Scott County EMS, which is managed by Scott County Government.

Big South Fork Medical Center offers emergency care. Air evac services are provided by the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville’s Lifestar helicopter service and, occasionally, by Air Evac. Landing pads are located at:

• Big South Fork Medical Center (Oneida)
• Mountain People’s Health Councils (Elgin)
• Old Winfield School (Winfield)

Designated landing zones are also located at Huntsville School, Fairview School and Brimstone Recreation.

Scott County is located on the northern Cumberland Plateau, along the Tennessee-Kentucky border. It is home to the fifth-largest national park in the eastern U.S. (the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area) and the second-largest tract of public land in Tennessee (the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area).
