Fair Housing Act

Under the Fair Housing Act, it is against the law to discriminate against any person because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin related to housing activities. These activities include:

• The sale or rental of housing or residential lots

• Advertising the sale or rental of housing

• Financing of housing

• The provision of real estate brokerage services, and

• The appraisal of housing.

Anyone who feels he or she has been discriminated against may file a complaint of housing discrimination to toll free 1-800-669-9777. This public service announcement has been brought to you by the Scott County Mayor’s Office.

Special Called Meeting

The Scott County Board of County Commissioners will meet in special session on Monday, August 7, 2017, in the conference room at the Scott County Office Building on Baker Highway in Huntsville, Tenn., beginning at 7 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be to approve the budget and tax levy for Fiscal Year 2017-2018.
